We don’t think any of our neighbours should have to face going hungry.

That’s why Smethwick Church Action Network’s Foodbank is here to serve our neighbourhood with quality emergency food parcels to meet their immediate need, and help to ease their fears.

We provide parcels containing three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.

We are part of a nationwide network of Foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

We receive donations from our local community including schools, churches, businesses, individuals and fundraising partners. We are reliant on local support to ensure that we can provide a good range of nutritionally balanced and appropriate food in each and every food parcel, catering for special diets when needed.

Smethwick Foodbank is based in the centre of Smethwick at Holy Trinity Church on Church Hill Street, B67 7AH. Contact sarah@smethwickcan.org or fae@smethwickcan.org for enquiries about Foodbank.

It doesn’t stop here…

We know that anyone can find themselves at crisis point for a number of different reasons. Smethwick Foodbank works with a wide range of local and national referral agencies to provide emergency food parcels and offer hope by highlighting opportunities for our neighbours to find ways to transition to a more self- reliant and sustainable future.

We work together with our local partners to signpost neighbours to additional support from within our community with a view to enabling everyone to have the opportunity to thrive and become their best self. Our Foodbank volunteers are specially trained to know about local services and offer practical guidance on getting the right support, helping our clients to break out of crisis.

A Future with no Foodbanks

We hope for a future without the need for Foodbanks.  That’s why we work closely with a wide range of partner agencies, including Citizen’s Advice, Local Welfare Provision and local Children’s Centres to ensure that people who come to us for help get timely and high-quality intervention, appropriate to their crisis.   In our 9 years of supporting local people in crisis, we have gained a deep understanding of the issues of poverty and destitution.  Our knowledge and experience provide us with regular opportunities to influence local policy and advocate for early interventions for those in need.  We are committed to providing the best support we can to those in need of our services, for as long as the need remains.
