Small but Mighty.

As needs arise for our neighbours, we respond as we can. On this page you’ll find a number of smaller ‘seasonal’ projects with a big impact, initiated in response to the needs in our neighbourhood.

Emergency kits for Rough Sleepers

Sadly, we have seen an increase in rough sleeping in the local area and amongst those accessing Foodbank.  In response to this we have been distributing rucksacks containing a blanket, waterproof cover, socks, a scarf, hat, material facemask, gloves and toiletries. In addition to addressing the immediate practical needs of those we meet, we are also working with the Sandwell’s Rough sleeping team who explore accommodation options with our rough sleeping neighbours.

If you or your church would like to donate to this project, please see our Wishlist below. We are currently in specific need of medium sized rucksacks (in good condition) and fleece style blankets (no holes or stains). Thank you for your continued generosity.

Please email kezia@smethwickcan.org or call 0121 517 0755 if you have any questions.

Wellbeing Bags for Children

The pandemic has been incredibly difficult for those of all ages, including children and youth who have been in and out of school. We decided to create some ‘wellbeing bags’ for children and youth whose families access Foodbank, and for whom accessing some extra resources for their mental wellbeing maybe difficult, if not impossible.

Each bag contains stress toys, colouring books pens and crayons, ‘back to school’ and ‘lockdown’ worksheets for anxiety and stress in covid, some treats and exercise ideas.
